Thales, Airbus, and Geo212 have expanded their geospatial intelligence efforts by contributing to the International Program for Human Geography (IPHG), which integrates demographic, linguistic, ethnic, and religious data to provide critical context for military operations.

Commissioned by IGN for the French Ministry for the Armed Forces, the team successfully developed a standardised, georeferenced database covering the Horn of Africa, enabling strategic map products that reflect human dynamics and societal structures. This data supports operational decision-making by helping identify intergroup tensions and assess potential regional impacts.

The project, praised by the IPHG community, led to a follow-up mission in 2023 focusing on economic data. By combining open-source intelligence (OSINT) and geospatial expertise (GEOINT), Thales reinforces its role as a key partner in delivering actionable, multi-source intelligence solutions tailored to complex operational environments.
