A major milestone has been reached with the installation of Thales StarNG and RSM970S radars atop the Rock of Gibraltar, ensuring long-term surveillance for RAF Gibraltar and the International Airport

As part of the UK MOD’s Programme Marshall, Thales and Aquila completed the project at 413m altitude, involving over 100 specialists and Chinook helicopter airlifts. A protective dome was added to withstand extreme weather.

Extensive flight-testing validated the radar’s precision, and it will soon integrate with Thales TopSky Air Traffic Display systems, modernising Gibraltar’s air traffic control

The radar is part of Aquila’s Programme Marshall, a Thales UK and NATS joint venture modernising air traffic management across the UK and overseas
