    We are currently looking for a Software Engineer – LLS to join the Thales IFEC team in Irvine, California.


    We are seeking a Linux kernel and driver Software Engineer who can work in a small team to bring up hardware using third-party Board Support Packages (BSP).  This individual should be able to analyze and troubleshoot complex problems at both the Linux/Android kernel/driver level and the system (multi-LRU) level.  Furthermore, this software engineer should be able to work well with other engineering groups.  In addition, this software engineer should have the knowledge of each phase of the software development cycle.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Implement the software functional modules (coding)
    • Integrate the software modules into a larger group (testing and integration)
    • Translate system requirements into software requirements (i.e. write Software Requirement Documents)
    • Compartmentalize the software requirements into software functional modules (i.e. write Software Design Documents)
    • Prepare software design specifications, analyses and recommendations for presentation and approval.
    • Work in close collaboration with other engineering and non-engineering organizations such as: hardware engineering, test engineering, system software, system engineering, system integration and validation, operations, product engineering, PM and PLM.
    • Bring up hardware platform using third-party software and Thales-developed software.
    • Provide engineering analysis and resolutions (i.e. troubleshooting) for technical issues that arise from unit-level testing and system-level testing.

    Skills and Experience:

    • Bachelors or Masters, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering
    • Knowledgeable in C language and assembly languages
    • Knowledgeable in all aspects of the software development cycle (i.e. software requirements, designs, implementation, test, and integration)
    • Knowledgeable in the Linux kernel and device driver developments is a plus
    • Knowledgeable in the software development in either Linux OS or standalone environment for I2C, I2S, USB, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, ARINC 485, ARINC429/629 communication protocols
    • Knowledgeable in the software development for boot loaders such uBoot, Redboot, Grub, and OpenBIOS is a plus
    • Knowledgeable in the interactions between the Android-Linux kernel/drivers, the JNI, and the Android Framework is a plus
    • Knowledgeable in the IFE system and/or video/audio distributing system is a plus
    • Knowledgeable in the Multimedia Graphic Display controller (ie. Framebuffer, overlay, alpha blending, etc…) is a plus

    Au sein de Thales Optronique, vous intégrez le Service Traitement des Images (STI) pour réaliser des études et développements dans le domaine du traitement d’images.

    Vous allez contribuer à la réalisation d’une chaine de traitement complète touchant la fonction de géolocalisation d’objets imagés et l’amélioration de sa qualité en temps réel sur des équipements aéroportés. L’activité qui couvre la phase amont (conception du traitement) en intégrant la problématique du temps de calcul sur plusieurs produits cibles. Le traitement adresse un attendu se situant en limite de l’état de l’art. Les équipements concernés sont des pod optroniques aéroportés.

    Les missions du poste sont les suivantes :
    • Travail de R&D pour la définition et l’évaluation de solutions.
    • Développement de la chaine de la chaine algorithmique en environnement Matlab / C++ , dans un esprit de capitalisation et de perspective de portage sur les calculateur embarqués des produits ciblés.
    • Conception d’algorithme et de métriques robustes en vue d’autoévaluer la performance et la confiance des résultats obtenus.
    • Évaluation de performance sur données réelles issues de plusieurs produits et perfectionnement de la solution en concertation avec des responsables de produits.

    Vous serez en mesure de bénéficier d’un existant et de connaissances de membres du service.
