    About the Business
     
    The Thales Australia Maritime business offers ship repair services, maintenance and asset management / 
    in-service support capabilities for commercial and naval ships in Australia. The  business also offers the 
    provision of docking, reticulated services and facility maintenance within Garden Island (Sydney) within the 
    largest docking facility in the southern hemisphere. With a close proximity to the Sydney CBD and
    surrounding areas, a growing portfolio of projects and based  at Garden Island, you will be at the epicentre 
    of our Maritime operations in a truly unique location.
     
    We are soon to commence a significant in-service support program for our primary customer, the Royal 
    Australian Navy. You will join the team as we support a critical addition to the Royal Australian Navy fleet.
     
    The Opportunity
     
    We look forward to you joining the team as our new Contract Manager as you will play a key role in 
    providing specialist, proactive contract management support as you advise on a variety of contractual and 
    reporting obligations. You will also carry out a variety of other critical tasks ranging from contract 
    administration and customer interaction, through to the provision of general commercial advice and
    guidance to various stakeholder groups to ensure the success of the program objectives and to meet 
    customer requirements.
     
    About You
    • Relevant tertiary qualification (Law, Business, Commerce or related) coupled with demonstrated experience in a similar contract administration/management role and the proven ability to interpret complex contractual requirements
    • Strong overall commercial skills with a relationship focus in your approach to all stakeholders
    • Demonstrated skills in contract drafting, negotiation, dispute resolution and risk mitigation
    • Well-developed planning and problem solving skills with the ability to identify and manage risks
    • Although not essential, those with previous Defence industry/contract management experience will be viewed favourably
    Special Requirements: Must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for a Defence Security Clearance and 
    to acess information covered by the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.

    About the role:

    The Network Design Support Engineer will be responsible for supporting installation design and installation of the Communication and Central Control System to be delivered for the Sydney Metro Northwest Project. Your knowledge of Huawei network equipment would be a great benefit, however not essential.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • You will be responsible for providing key support to Network installation and support and lead the Network Set-to-Work.
    • Coordination with System Interface Managers & Test Team to ensure Network based Communications systems are successfully integrated
    • Provide technical support to the installation contractor teams during site implementation for fast resolution of any Network construction issues encountered.
    • Inspection on the quality of Network installation and raise any non-conformances to the installation sub-contractor if necessary.
    • Seek and ensure all Network non-conformance during installation are corrected before transitioning to the Test and Commissioning Team and support the production of as-built Network & Cable drawings post install.
    • Support the transition activities between the Install team to Test and Commissioning and Maintenance

    Key Skills and Experience:

    • Degree of Engineering in the field of Telecommunications/ Electrical/ Network
    • Experience in leading and/or participating in installation of large scale networks with a minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a relevant engineering organisation.
    • Experience identifying, assessing & addressing Telecommunications  & Network  issues relating to installations of cabling and equipment in greenfield sites.
    • Understand the relevant standards associated with Network installation design for the system to be delivered

  • Electronic Systems Engineer

    Thales Underwater Systems (UWS) is a global leader in advanced Sonar systems and for more than 2 decades has been responsible for delivering systems to both civilian and military customers.


    We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Engineer to join our In Service Support team to work on the Royal Australian Navy Minehunter ships. In this role, you will run projects related to mechanical and electrical hardware upgrades and obsolescence engineering issues, meaning you will be able to take projects from initial requirements right through the engineering life-cycle to completion!


    Key Responsibilities of this Role Include:
    • Reporting of technical investigations into problems associated with mechanical and electronic/electrical systems and hardware
    • Conduct investigations into obsolescence of mechanical and electronic/electrical systems and equipment and recommend appropriate, cost effective solutions to the customer
    • Preparation of engineering drawings and documents in support of sonar equipment design, development and maintenance activities
    • Preparation of design change documentation including manufacturing drawings, installation instructions, cost estimates and test and trials procedures
    • Providing support to fault diagnosis and repair of the Sonar Reference Set and Sonar Towed Bodies.
    Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required Includes:
    • Advanced Diploma or preferably a Bachelor Degree in Electronics/Mechatronics Engineering
    • Previous experience working with electronic or electro-mechanical systems/equipment
    • Prior experience working in a defence environment would be an advantage however is not essential
    • Enthusiastic and 'can do' approach to problem solving.

    We are currently looking for a Network System Engineer to join the Thales Avionics, a subsidiary of Thales USA team in Melbourne, FL. 

     

    The Network System Engineer analyzes new situations, formulates new ideas and generates requirements with sufficient detail to start a new design.  The Engineer applies broad knowledge of Systems, hardware, software and network technologies to generate system level design solutions.  He or she investigates and resolves system, hardware, software and network matters of significance; researches, analyzes, isolates and resolves errors; assesses and updates networks as needed and in accordance with specified plans.

     

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Requirements Capture, Analysis, and Validation

    • System Architecture Definition 

    • System level Consulting 

    • Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) Estimates and New Product support

    • Other duties as assigned 

     

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems, Electrical, Software Engineering, or other technical field preferred.  

    • Five years of experience in systems engineering or software development.

    • Experience with InFlyt Entertainment or Airborne Satellite Communication Systems - preferred

    • Five years of experience in writing system or software requirements.

    • Must speak, read, and write English fluently.

    • Regular attendance is required.

    • Must have a positive attitude.

    • Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the Thales culture, that is, exhibit the Thales values of Compliance, Respect, Innovation, Responsibility, and Teamwork.

     

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Broad knowledge of System, software and network technologies.

    • Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to generate design solutions.

    • Familiarity with system, hardware & software development processes (ARP4754Rev A, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160G etc).

    • Familiar with ARINC standards applicable to IFE and Airborne Satcom systems

    • Experience working with network systems and networking principles, data, voice, or video.

    • Experience working with network software and hardware, data, voice, or video.

    • Experience developing or specifying software applications.

    • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
